Good afternoon,
As you may know, although VVS was defeated by Syracuse ITC on November 1st, VVS was given a birth to the sectional playoffs in light of a ruling by Section III. Section III ruled that ITC must forfeit the November 1st game due to an ineligible player in the game. Syracuse ITC filed an appeal with the NY State Supreme Court for Onondaga County to dispute the forfeiture, attesting that the player was indeed eligible, and therefore the forfeiture was not justified. The judge ruled in ITC’s favor, re-establishing the game score and rescinding the forfeiture.
We appreciate the patience of our community as this issue was resolved by the courts. While we are disappointed for our student athletes, we are pleased that the judge took this matter into consideration so quickly, and deeply investigated the issue. We congratulate Syracuse ITC on their advancement into sectional play and thank all parties involved who worked to ensure that students were heard and supported. We are proud of our VVS football team and the success they have found this season, and look forward to their continued success in the 2025 season and beyond.
With Warm Regards,
Martha
